Services

The term “service” essentially means nothing more than people being there for other people and fulfilling their wishes. St. Benedict was already aware of this important task in the monastery and set it out in his Rule of Benedict.

Gastronomy / Canteen

Pupils eat breakfast, lunch and dinner every day in the refectory of the Benedictine monastery in Engelberg. The large guest hall, which used to serve as a meeting place and courtroom for the Engelberg valley community, is now used to cater for guests of the monastery. In our kitchen, we use regional and fair-trade products and seasonal vegetables from our own monastery garden. The bread is sourced from the monastery’s own bakery.

Housekeeping

At first glance, it may seem surprising how the housekeeping team always manages to juggle its many tasks. But if you put your heart and soul into a task, no hurdle is too high. The motto “There's no such thing as impossible” is consistently put into practice here. The specialists in the housekeeping team responsible for the monastery grounds, the Abbey School and the guest facilities are responsible for cleaning and technical support of the facilities, maintenance, environmental and general work as well as snow clearing.
