The pop-up restaurant Adelhelm-Stube in Engelberg Monastery
Welcome to the Adelhelm-Stube – the winter pop-up restaurant in Engelberg Abbey.
Named after Adelhelm, the first abbot of the monastery, we take up the beginnings of a place that has been characterized by craftsmanship, spirituality, hospitality and a lively community since 1120. Together with the founder of the monastery, Konrad von Sellenbüren, Adelhelm laid the foundations for monastic life in Engelberg.
In the Adelhelm-Stube, we bring this history back to life. Old monastery recipes meet modern interpretations, traditional ingredients are combined with fresh products from the monastery, valley and mountains. History comes to life and tradition becomes tangible – on every plate, in every glass, in every moment.
How to find us!
Enter through the large gate (yellow and black) to the flower store and then immediately keep to the right. The parlor is immediately visible and is also known by locals as the "Knechtenstube".
Important: Please use the parking spaces on the Pfistermatte. There are no parking spaces available on the monastery grounds.

Wirtschaft Grafenort

Hotel St. Josefshaus

Today, the hotel, formerly run by the Franciscan nuns, is owned by the Benedictine monastery of Engelberg. Charming, individually furnished hotel rooms await you. Our kitchen team spoils guests with a rich breakfast buffet and refined seasonal lunch and dinner menus.
Hotel Sonnwendhof
Do you need a break from everyday stress and are you looking for a vacation experience in the heart of the Central Swiss Alps? Then Hotel Sonnwendhof is the right place for you. All rooms are furnished in alpine style and offer a wonderful view of Engelberg’s local mountains Hahnen, Spannörter and Titlis. Every morning we spoil you with our rich regional breakfast buffet. The hotel is located in the immediate vicinity of the valley station of the mountain railroads. The train station and the village center are just a few minutes’ walk away.
Guest stay at the monastery
Since its foundation in 1120, Engelberg Benedictine monastery has enjoyed a long tradition of hosting guests. We are happy to offer our Benedictine hospitality to individuals and couples looking for a break. You will stay in the public part of the monastery in former monks’ cells. The rooms are spacious and functionally furnished. There are nine single and six double rooms with shower/WC or shared bathroom.
