Find out more about the parish

The parish in the Engelberg valley has been looked after by the Benedictines since the monastery was founded. Pastoral care in the valley is of great importance to the Benedictine monastery, especially as it has always been firmly rooted in the place where it was founded.

Good contact with the population and walking together in faith are therefore central. As in the monastery, the abbot is also the leading pastor here. However, he usually delegates this task to a confrere who, as parish priest, is responsible for pastoral care in the valley. The current parish priest is Father Patrick Ledergerber. As the parish has always belonged to the monastery, there is only one church in Engelberg for the monastery and parish, in which the services of the monastic community and the parish are celebrated.

Upcoming Liturgies

Weekday and weekend liturgies are streamed live.
Sunday liturgies (including the Vigil Mass) are also broadcast on the Engelberg local TV channel TEP-TV.

You have lost a loved one through death; it is now time to say goodbye. What remains is the memory and the hope that he or she is now safe in God’s presence. But many questions may also arise for you:

What should I do first?

What should be considered regarding the burial?

What type of grave should be chosen?

We are happy to advise you on all these and other questions and are available for a counseling session. Please contact our pastor, Father Patrick Ledergerber.

There are good reasons for church membership. The Catholic Church is a supporting force in our society through what it does for its members and the rest of the population. We stand up for dialog and appreciation, act in solidarity with people in difficult situations, stand up for justice, equal opportunities and the integrity of creation. What the church does makes sense: it tries to live out faith, love and hope.

If you are considering joining or re-joining, we will be happy to help you. Please contact Pastor Patrick Ledergerber.

In the parish of Engelberg, there are numerous ways in which you can get involved as a volunteer, be it as a lector in church services, organizing family celebrations or caring for the sick (end-of-life care). Volunteering enriches the life of the parish and connects people from all walks of life.

Perhaps you have an idea of your own and are looking for parish support? We would be happy to listen to your concerns and see what we can do together. Get in touch with Pastor Patrick Ledergerber.
