Visit to the Teutonic Order at Engelberg Abbey

On the feast day of St. Benedict, Engelberg Abbey welcomed a delegation from the Teutonic Order. The traditional order, which has been active in Central Europe since the 12th century, maintains close ties with the Benedictines to this day.

Abbot Christian Meyer recalled their years of study together in Rome and emphasized the close ties between the two orders:

“During my time as a student, there were four brothers from the German Order who studied at Sant’Anselmo and lived with us Benedictines.”

The visit once again underlined the historic and still vibrant connection between Engelberg Abbey and the Teutonic Order.
