Benedict's Day

St. Benedict's Day is a public holiday in Engelberg. On this day (March 21), we celebrate the death of the founder of our order, St. Benedict (480-547), who was born in his death for heaven, for the new life.

St. Benedict’s Day is a public holiday in Engelberg. On this day, we celebrate the death of the founder of our order, St. Benedict (480-547), who was born in his death for heaven, for the new life. In this festive service, we take a look at St. Benedict as a “pilgrim of hope”. This is because we are in the Holy Year 2025, which is marked by the image “Pilgrim of Hope”. A special greeting this year goes to the internal pupils of Einsiedeln Abbey School. They will be celebrating this service with us.

A warm welcome!
