A sign of solidarity and comfort

On Friday, January 9, 2026 at 2 pm, the church bells will ring throughout Switzerland – including those of Engelberg Abbey Church.
We invite everyone to pause for a moment and remember the victims of the tragedy in Crans-Montana. 40 people have lost their lives, 116 young people are injured, some seriously, and are still struggling to survive.
Our sympathy goes out to them, their families and loved ones. We would also like to express our respect and thanks to all the emergency and rescue services as well as the nursing and medical professionals who will be working tirelessly in the coming days and weeks.
May this moment of remembrance give you strength and comfort – today and beyond.
