Three perpetual vows and the start of a novitiate

On July 11, 2026, a significant celebration took place at the Benedictine Abbey of Mont Febe in Yaoundé (Cameroon), a daughter monastery of Engelberg Abbey. During a solemn liturgical service, three novices made their temporary vows, thereby committing themselves to living their lives according to the Rule of St. Benedict.

By taking their vows, the young brothers are taking an important step on their monastic journey. After completing their novitiate, they have decided to further deepen their response to God’s call through Benedictine life and to live out their vocation within the Mont Febe community.

At the same time, Brother Bienvenue took an important step on his journey within the Order: He began his novitiate and was thus officially admitted to the period of in-depth initiation into the Benedictine way of life. The novitiate serves to foster spiritual, personal, and communal growth and enables the novice to examine and deepen his vocation within the monastic community.
