Easter concert

April 20, 2025 in the Baroque Hall

The Wendel Quartet in the Baroque Hall

A classical concert in the baroque hall of the Engelberg Benedictine monastery at Easter has become a tradition. The Wendel Quartet has been engaged for the concert on Sunday, April 20, 2025. This formation arose from the passion of its members for chamber music and the desire to explore the piano quartet repertoire in particular and to develop artistically by making music together. The Wendel Quartet won the Swiss chamber music competition “Orpheus” in November 2024.

The concert in the Baroque Hall begins at 4.00 pm, doors open at 3.00 pm.
Duration: approx. 70 minutes
Tickets are available in advance or at the box office.

Musical magic moments with exceptional talents, Easter concert with “Wendel Quartet”

Matteo Cimatti, violin
Élise Hiron, viola
Jiayi Liu, cello
Francesco Granata, piano

They play works by:
Frank Bridge: “Phantasy” in F sharp minor for piano quartet H. 94, 12 min.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Quartet No 2 in EW Flat Major K, 25 min.
Gabriel Fauré – Piano Quartet No 1 in C minor, Op 15, 30 min.

The Wendel Quartet – winner of the Orpheus Swiss Chamber Music Competition 2024 – is immersing itself in the music of Gabriel Fauré to mark the 100th anniversary of his death. In this program, it presents a poignant and playful piano quartet.

The poetic music of the great British composer (and violist) Frank Bridge and Mozart’s equally extraordinary ability to blend melody, harmony and structure in his works are an ideal complement to Fauré’s music.
