Career showcase Engelberg

Jugendliche der IOS besuchen die Klosterschreinerei

For IOS (Integrated Orientation Level) students, the career choice process begins in the second IOS school year. In order to give the prospective apprentices as broad a spectrum as possible of the apprenticeships on offer in Engelberg, various companies invite them to a careers showcase. On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, five IOS students took the opportunity to get an idea of the carpentry trade in the monastery carpentry workshop. They were supervised by Andreas Feer, who is responsible for training apprentices at the Klosterschreinerei, and by Robin Waser, a fourth-year apprentice. In addition to the presentation of the company, the pupils were given an insight into the everyday working life of a carpenter. And last but not least, they were allowed to lend a hand themselves. As a lasting memento of their career showcase at the Klosterschreinerei, they made their own Alexander knot under the guidance of Robin Waser, consisting of six pieces of wood of equal length. The young people showed great interest in the carpentry trade.

Another opportunity to gain an insight into the training opportunities offered by the monastery businesses will be provided on Thursday, November 13, 2025. On Future Day, interested young people will have the opportunity to get to know the professions of carpenter, cook, gardener, florist and hotel communications specialist. The Future Day starts at 08:30 and lasts until around 17:00. Lunch will be provided for the participants in the monastery.
