With “The Visit of the Old Lady”, the Kollegitheater der Stiftsschule Engelberg brings one of Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s most important works to the stage.

With “The Visit of the Old Lady”, the Kollegitheater der Stiftsschule Engelberg brings one of Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s most important works to the stage.

Sebastian Mattmüller (baritone and speaker) and Beat Mattmüller (piano) regularly perform themed musical and poetic concert programs. This year they have prepared the program “Haube – Hiebe – Hoffnung”. It is about exciting stories with tragic love; often the monastic affiliation or a monastery play a role, as a cause or counter-idea to the tragedy of love. For this reason, you would also like to perform the new program in monastery rooms for monks.

In addition to the well-known Robert Schumann and Chopin – but here as a short melodrama (by Burmester), we also perform unknown composers: Hans Ebell, Carl Haslinger, Dora Pejacevic and Max Schillings. In addition to songs, melodramas can also be heard, an art form that was very widespread at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, but is hardly ever programmed today.
